5 Shades of Quirky - Part Deux

Hey there!

Happy Saturday!

So in an earlier blog post, I spoke a little about The Quirk Box and how their collection is one of a kind. I also mentioned that I'll be sharing a total of 5 looks using some pieces from their collection. You can find the previous post here in case you missed it.

For today's post, I've opted for something on the simple side.

Co-ordinate.

Over the past year, one trend that's picked up and pretty much been everywhere, right from stores to the streets, is co-ordinates or twin sets. I love the trend, but have yet to don it on the blog. The whole twin set trend inspired me to buy a few blazers and bottoms in the same print/style. Styling them with a solid coloured crop or tank top inside would make them pretty perfect together and separately as well. So I'm sharing two looks, one from spring and one from winter, with you guys today.

LOOK 1

Jacket, Pants - H&M; Crop top - Redress; Necklace - www.shopsnob.com; Bag - Aldo; Sunglasses - Colaba;
Shoes - www.boohoo.com; On my lips - Mac Velvet Teddy

Since we are pretty much in the midst of winter, it seemed apt to post this first. I shot this look earlier this month. If you've been following me on Instagram for a while, you've probably seen this blazer. And these pants were part of a recent post (there's another post coming with the blazer too!). I make complete use of both these pieces as separates, but I thought of wearing them together this time. I personally love wearing print on print, and I've tried stripes on stripes a few times before. Since there was already so much going on with the outfit, I kept the accessories at a minimum, with a little edge from a clear necklace and mirrored sunglasses.

LOOK 2

Jacket, Shorts - www.asos.com; Shoes - www.donebynone.com; Crop top - Forever21;
Sunglasses (old), Rings - www.shopsnob.com; Bag - Primark; On my lips - Mac Kinda Sexy

I shot this look in spring last year, but for some reason it never made it to the blog, and ultimately I forgot about it! I recently came across the pictures and was contemplating whether I should post it or not, since it was shot so long back. But I decided to go with it anyway. As you can probably see, I don't have my ombre here haha. I haven't made much use of this blazer or the shorts as separates yet, but I definitely will in spring/summer this year! I absolutely love them together though. The black broke the colour monotony in the look, and the heels added that feminine touch to put it all together.

The Pink Trench.

Coat, Pants, Shoes - www.boohoo.com; Bag - Primark; Crop top - Redress; Rings, Sunglasses (similar here and here) - www.shopsnob.com

For me, one of the really exciting things about chilly weather is layering, especially trench/duster coats. Now, if you know me even a little bit, you'll probably know I can never get enough of pink and purple. And I've been on the hunt for the perfect pastel pink faux fur coat for the longest time! I still haven't found one, but I came across this bright pink boyfriend coat on Boohoo, and I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I was when I saw it! I'd seen pictures of so many pink coats everywhere, and finally I found one that was just right.

I decided to let the coat be the highlight of this post, and kept the rest of my look black, with the added contrast from the mirrored sunglasses. Disco pants have been a recent addition to my wardrobe. They're super comfortable and stylish at the same time, and have become quite an essential. I just loved how the look had an edge to it, without too much going on, exactly the way I'd pictured it when I bought the coat.

I'd love to know how you guys style trench coats! I usually wear a more toned down or neutral trench on a daily basis, but 'tis the season of trench coats, and what better way to wear one than make it stand out?

Winters aren't always dull.

Top - Shimmer (Lokhandwala); Pants - H&M; Bag - Primark; Earrings, Shoes - www.shopsnob.com; On my lips - Mac Velvet Teddy

Being born and brought up in Bombay, I've never really seen proper winters where the temperature shoots below zero, until now. So I've never worn all dull clothes for the entire season, and hence, I still find that impossible to do. My wardrobe has it's blacks and neutrals, but it's more towards the happy colourful side. And no matter how cold or dull it is, there are days when I just need the colour in my outfit! That was one of the reasons I chose a super bright background for this shoot too.

I have two staples this season, turtlenecks and fuzzy sweaters. I usually wear them with pleather leggings or jeans, but I decided to go for a pair of striped bottoms for this look. because completing an outfit with a bold edge is one of my favourite ways to go. I'd never have worn these pants with such a bright top a year ago, but this year has begun with experimentation, and I'd like to keep it going that way. I don't think I wear earrings enough, so I chose this pair of gun metal ones to match the spikes on my sandals.

I'd definitely wear this to work or out shopping, what do you guys think? You could take it down a notch by pairing striped bottoms with a plain black top if you think this is too bold for you.

5 Shades of Quirky

Dress - Quirk Box; Heels, Sunglasses, Ring - Forever 21; Bag - Colaba; On my nails - China Glaze Tempest; On my lips - Mac Please Me

Hey there!

As some of you may know, I'm back in London. Bombay was so amazing. Not only did I get to see my friends and family, I was so active on the blog and had the opportunity to share some exciting collaborations with you guys, and I also had the chance to meet so many of you lovely readers, which was pretty cool! My college has begun, so I'm back to the usual classes, assignments, basically the whole works. Given that and the freezing weather, it may be extremely difficult to shoot here very often. I will try though. Since I anyway anticipated this, I shot a couple of looks back home so that I can keep the blog going even while I'm here.

Quirk Box is a brand that's known for it's uniqueness. Their collection has always stood out because of it's fun designs and bright colours. Every time I went through their collection, I would always think of how I could incorporate such designs into my everyday life. And so for the next few weeks, I'll be sharing a total of 5 different looks with stuff from their Gold and regular collection, showing you 5 ways I'd style Quirk Box with other items from my wardrobe.

For the first look, I chose this shift dress. I think shift dresses are extremely versatile. You could dress them up or down depending on the occasion, and they're a good addition to your closet if you don't have one. I decided to keep the rest of the look very basic, and let the dress do all the talking. I chose a pair of cuffed nude heels, a basic black bag and sunglasses. I felt like the look was missing a metallic edge to it, which is why I added this cheetah ring to complete the look. While styling it, I had something like a brunch or lunch outfit in mind, but I think this would be really nice to wear to a dinner date or even to a movie if you ditched the heels. Where do you think you can wear this outfit? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

P.S : In case you're wondering, the picture I posted on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter yesterday was a preview of one of the 5 looks that I'll be sharing with you guys! Stay tuned for the rest!

All leather everything.

Crop top, Leggings, Sunglasses - www.shopsnob.com; Jacket - Mango (old); Bag - Aldo; Shoes - Boohoo; Headphones - Frends

Hello everyone!

I've wanted to shoot an all leather look ever since my blog started, but never actually got to doing it. Faux leather, or pleather, is one of the reasons I look forward to autumn/winter. If I had my way, I'd be wearing leather throughout the year. I still do wear my pleather leggings and crop tops anytime of the year, but wearing the jackets can get a little difficult.

Initially, I was going to go for the whole badass all black leather feel, with grey holographic accents. And just before the shoot I spotted my Frends headphones in the car, and they went perfectly with the holographic theme. I shared a picture of the headphones on Instagram when I got them. They were quite pricey, but totally worth it, and I intend to have them as part of many shoots, only because I love them so so much! For those of you that want to know, they're the Taylor Rose Gold Oil Slick ones. I got them from www.needsupply.com. I went for a very basic makeup look, and the Mac Velvet Teddy lipstick, because it's a current staple!

Tell me what you think of this post, and also if you'd try an all-(p)leather look. It doesn't have to be all black, you can play with colours too!
